When people are trying to drive traffic to their affiliate offers or splash pages, they often turn to buying this traffic.
The two most popular ways would probably be Google Adwords and Facebook ads.
I have used both of this methods with varying degrees of success. I personally prefer Facebook ads, but as they continually rise in costs, I have been forced to at least consider other options.

Now obviously if you are promoting dating offers this is THE place to be – but I think even non-dating related niches can make money on POF.

If you are looking for a new advertising avenue, you should consider POF because:
1. Cheaper – In general for most demogrpahics, POF is cheaper than Facebook. This is common senses since Facebook is one of the busiest sites on the internet. This means POF might be a better option to "cut your teeth" on online advertising.
2. Live Stats – You can get pretty up to date stats on your campaigns. I don't know if it is completely real time, but regardless the delay is small and much less than the Facebook stat delay.
3. Easier Reviewers - Depending on who you get approving your ads, I have noticed Facebook can be tough for certain niches especially. From my own experience I find POF to be a but easier to get your ads accepted.
4. Targeting – Much like Facebook, POF offers a ton of ways to target your ad campaigns. In some ways the ads are every bit as targetable as on Facebook. Just think about the dating profiles and what are on them – you can target just about any of these aspects (body size, religion, smokes etc…)
5. Change Targeting of Existing Ads – You can actually change and tweak the targeting of your ads while they are live. This is really helpful.
When you combine it with the nearly real time stats, it can be a great help to your campaigns. You can tweak your targeting and see the effects almsot right away.
Also, Facebook doesn't even allow this. You have to create an entire new ad to re-target.
If you are thinking about paying for advertising, consider POF. it is a great place to start and might be a cheaper lesson than Facebook.
